How it works

From IP address to the right ad

Every device online reaches the internet through a public IP address, and every IP address belongs to a network in a known place. IP targeting uses that to decide, request by request, whether your ad should appear.

Request arrives: A visitor opens a page with an ad slot. The ad request carries the public IP address of their connection. No login or cookie is needed.

IP ranges

Target whole networks with CIDR

Organisations get their public addresses in blocks. Rather than listing addresses one by one, you describe a block with CIDR notation: a starting address and how many bits are fixed. Combine included ranges with smaller excluded ones for precise control.

  • /32 · a single address
  • /28 · 16 addresses, a small office
  • /24 · 256 addresses, a building or campus segment
  • /16 · 65,536 addresses, a large network

203.0.113.0/24

Targeted (240) Excluded /28 (16)

/24 means the first 24 bits are fixed, so the range covers 256 addresses, from 203.0.113.0 to 203.0.113.255. Adding 203.0.113.192/28 as an exclusion removes 16 of them.

Data

What an IP lookup does, and doesn't, tell us

IP targeting works at the network level. That makes it effective for place-based audiences, and keeps it clear of personal data.

Used for targeting

  • Country, region and city of the network
  • Connection type (business, residential, mobile, hosting)
  • Whether the IP falls inside a range you target or exclude

Never used

  • Names, emails or any personal identity
  • Cookies or browsing history
  • ISP subscriber records
FAQ

Common questions

What is IP targeting?+

Every device online connects through a public IP address that belongs to a network, such as an office, campus, home broadband or mobile carrier, in a known location. IP targeting shows your ads only when the request comes from the locations or network ranges you choose.

How accurate is IP location?+

Country and region are generally reliable; city-level accuracy varies by network and provider. That's why combining locations with known IP ranges gives the most precise results.

Does it use cookies or personal data?+

No. Decisions are made from network-level attributes of the IP address. IPtarget.pro never lists individual IP addresses, browsing history or ISP subscriber data.

Can I target a specific company or campus?+

Yes, if you're authorised to target their public IP ranges, for example your own customers or partners. Enter the ranges in CIDR notation and add exclusions where needed.

How do I get started?+

Create a free account, build an audience and set your budget. You can set up and review campaigns before any ads are delivered.
